Venus Project Mare Nostrum I

Venus of the eternal Sea

From the beginning, the sea has been the natural element of Venus. Not bound to the linearity of time, she continues to appear there — not as a myth preserved in marble, but as a living presence, fluid and mutable. Venus moves through the centuries like a motif reimagined: surfacing and submerging, dissolving boundaries between the divine and the human. She assumes different roles — scientist, diver, explorer, swimmer, surfer, warrior. These guises echo the many faces of women through the ages: the noble sitter of a Renaissance portrait, the artist hidden behind her canvas, the pioneer in a male-dominated field, the contemporary woman balancing power and vulnerability. Always strong, always present, each role becomes another variation of the same theme — resilience and grace in changing times. There are accounts, half legend, half testimony: a sudden face at the glass of a ship’s porthole, a fleeting encounter with divers, an almost playful gesture with a pair of goggles retrieved from the ocean floor. She has been seen riding waves as if they were extensions of her own breath, carrying strange sea plants from the depths, or moving alongside Vulcan through vast stretches of water. At times she remains still, surrounded by shoals of small fish that gather around her as if recognizing an ancient affinity. The ocean is her refuge, her counterworld to Olympus — detached from rivalries and divine politics. In the currents and the quiet, Venus embodies what strong women have always known: a place of serenity, of inexhaustible beauty, of presence beyond time.
